NLEX-SCTEX KalSaDa (Kaligtasan sa Daan)
A road safety education program intended to promote road safety awareness among host communities. It was conceptualized as an effort to promote road safety, to reach out to other stakeholders, including children, educating them to develop a habit of practicing road safety.
NLEX-SCTEX Usapang Driver
A forum aimed at orienting drivers from different bus and trucking companies, other transport organizations and local government units/agencies on safe expressway driving.
BIYAHE: The NLEX-SCTEX Student Short Filmmaking Competition
A short filmmaking competition for students that focuses on the experience of the travelers of NLEX and SCTEX.
NLEX SCTEX CAVITEX SAFE TRIP MO SAGOT KO MOTORIST ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation’s annual “Safe Trip Mo Sagot Ko” campaign is conducted during peak travel seasons of Holy Week, All Souls Day, and Christmas to manage the surge in holiday traffic between Metro Manila and the provinces. NLEX, SCTEX and CAVITEX operations are enhanced at these times by deploying additional personnel to all major toll plazas, while first aid and medical services are provided at motorist camps installed at strategic points of the expressway. Free Wi-Fi and emergency phones are also available at select toll facilities.
Anti-overloading Program
Overloaded vehicles pose a threat to overall road safety, not only by damaging road surfaces with their excess weight but also threatening other vehicles when their weight compromises the vehicle’s control and maneuvers ability. To promote safer travel, NLEX Corporation, in cooperation with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO), spearhead the strict enforcement of the anti-overloading clause of Republic Act 8794. Weight bridges and weighing scales are deployed to measure vehicles and determine overloading violations.
Heavy Maintenance Program
To continually ensure the safety and comfort of all motorists on the NLEX and SCTEX, the company conducts an annual Heavy Maintenance Program. The expressways undergo repairs like crack mapping and sealing, pothole patching, and milling and overlay, among others, to guarantee a seamless travel experience. The program also optimizes the road’s condition, thereby extending its serviceable lifespan.
Expressway Traffic Rules
The following rules and regulations are observed and strictly enforced in the NLEX and SCTEX. These laws, particularly R.A. 4136 and 8794, are strictly implemented by the Patrol Officers who are deputized by the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
