Daily operations at NLEX-SCTEX continue despite the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila, Bulacan, and three other provinces, the NLEX Corporation announced.

The tollway company is taking all the necessary measures to promote the health and safety of employees while at the same time ensuring the continuity of services to motorists.

“We recognize the critical role of our company in providing vital infrastructure for the unimpeded flow of goods and services. Our team commits to comply with government guidelines and directives, and continue to protect our employees and motorists, said J. Luigi L. Bautista, president and general manager of NLEX Corporation.

NLEX and SCTEX are operating 24/7 to ensure the unhampered movement of essential goods and the transit of frontliners, workers, and Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APOR) identified by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).

All toll plazas are open but on a limited capacity. At Balintawak, Bocaue, and Mindanao toll plazas, 50% to 60% of the lanes remain open to serve motorists.

Bautista also said that the team is in close coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP) regarding their checkpoint/monitoring operations along the expressways.

NLEX Corporation also continues to beef up its COVID-19 prevention protocols to ensure safety. Intensified cleaning, disinfection, and sanitation and physical distancing measures have been in place in its office premises, toll booths, customer service centers, company vehicles, and rest and refuel areas (gasoline stations).

To better serve motorists, free 24-hour towing to the nearest exit for Class 1 vehicles will also be available from 6:00 a.m. of March 31, 2021 to 6:00 a.m. of April 5, 2021.

For motorists who need to check the current traffic situation, they may visit the NLEX Corporation Facebook and Twitter accounts for updates. The Customer Hotline 1-35000 also operates 24/7 to address motorists’ concerns.

“Despite the challenging times, our team remains steadfast in providing round-the-clock assistance to our customers, government partners, and other stakeholders,” Bautista added.

NLEX is also encouraging motorists to use RFID as means of toll payment to avoid long queues at the cash lanes. Motorists may have their RFID stickers installed before entering the expressways and are advised to make sure that their accounts have sufficient balance to cover their trips.
